Gaining full speed with the Digital Workplace

Seitz car dealership from Germany's famous Allgäu region, faced challenges with outdated software and limited collaboration tools. User surveys and a thorough software landscape analysis revealed critical gaps and shortcomings in internal communication and the company's tool landscape. Recognizing the need for modern solutions, Seitz embarked on an extensive selection process. The result? A powerful combination of Microsoft 365 and Fellow Digitals' social intranet, chosen to drive collaboration and streamline communication.

About Seitz

From the Allgäu to the world: the Seitz car dealership chain is regionally established and on a clear expansion course - in Europe and in e-commerce. Around half of the family company's employees work in the office, the other half mainly in workshops.

The challenge

Seitz's vision is “To be the customer champion at the top of the VW Group's dealerships and online business for Germany and Europe!”. To achieve this, the company needed to be repositioned digitally, as “classic” tools such as Excel were still being used for project work instead of digital collaboration. Digital communication and document storage were mostly carried out via a sluggish mail client.

The process manager for digitalization, Christopher Geyer, took the helm of the “Digital Workplace” project. A previous attempt to implement this using an industry solution was a disappointment: the software did not meet the practical requirements after purchase. Seitz therefore decided to relaunch the entire project with Fellow Digitals' partner agency "Kronsteg".

A selection from their goals:

  • to analyze the existing software landscape and user requirements in order to design the future IT landscape and select the right systems

  • to reduce the IT infrastructure costs as far as possible

  • to implement a central access point created for users at the 22 locations

The solution

At the start of the project, user surveys and an analysis of the software landscape revealed a lack of project management and collaboration tools, and the email client and document storage system were technically outdated. Internal communication is via WhatsApp or email. Conclusion: there was a need for new software solutions. At the end of a thorough selection process, Seitz opted for the combination of Microsoft 365 and Fellow Digitals' social intranet.

In addition to the migration, Kronsteg also helped with the configuration of the systems and a rousing communication campaign. In particular, the communication measures launched at an early stage with the memorable key visual attracted a lot of attention and provided excellent entertainment, resulting in a high level of user activity.

„We have successfully designed and introduced the Digital Workplace. Thanks to Microsoft 365 and a modern social intranet, our communication, collaboration and networking are at the next level.”

Christopher Geyer, Chief Digital Officer

The result

Seitz is really stepping on the gas with the Digital Workplace: “SINA” intranet as a central entry point in combination with Microsoft 365 apps. An overview of the successes to date:

  • 39% shorter response time: customer enquiries

  • 43% faster exchange: wikis, chat, news

  • 12 digital work processes: Purchasing and registration forms and much more.

A project with great success for the employees, the company and the project manager. Oh yes, racing driver Sina and her VW Beetle will of course continue to support the employees with help and advice. So it's full speed ahead for Seitz in the future too!

With the pedal to the metal, the project was to be implemented in 6 months.
